Gurez valley is a tiny unexplored tourist spot situated at an altitude of 8000 ft in the north of Kashmir about 123 km from Srinagar. Snow-capped peaks, locals known as Dards community, small wooden houses, cold gentle breeze, and crystal clear water of Neelam River are all very relaxing to the weary nerves of a central Indian resident seeking a quiet and serene ambiance.

This picturesque valley is on the ancient Silk Route & it connects Kashmir valley to Dras and Gilgit in Ladakh. Visitors are required to seek permission to enter the valley.

Gurez is endowed with a distinctive culture, lifestyle, and language. Brown Bear of the Himalayas and Snow Leopard are seen on Gurez landscape.

The Gurez festival, a 2 day initiative of Tourism department started to augment tourism in the region. The festival showcases the cuisine, traditional handicrafts culture, culture programme (folk songs and dance) and also the sports of Gurez valley.

An adventurous visitor can avail cycling, zorbing (a new age sport of rolling downhill inside an plastic sphere/ orb), water rafting (Kishenganga River), trekking etc..
